Dr. Greg Peroff What was left for Dr. Greg Peroff, owner Synergy Chiropractic after spending his youth skiing on some of the most renowned slopes in the world? Well, naturally, he became a chiropractor and moved to Michigan.

The son of an optometrist (father) and a chiropractic office manager (mother), Greg grew up in northern Canada. When he was14 years old he left his home and family and began competitive skiing internationally. “I grew up awfully fast and learned more about myself by being out there on my own. Yes, I was traveling with a team, but you learn how to take care of yourself, by yourself. And by doing that, I found what really motivated me to do better,” he says. As a downhill skier, Greg explains he travelled down slopes at obscene speeds and took falls that resulted in concussions. The headaches from those falls responded fantastically to chiropractic care. He quickly learned that chiropractic allowed him to perform at a higher level.

Greg finds chiropractic an exciting field because it deals with more than just neck and back pain. The focus at Synergy Chiropractic is on the family, but many local athletes are also treated as a means of enhancing their performance. “The nervous system controls everything in your body,” Greg explains, “so we try to address the nervous system in a way that allows it to perform at its optimum potential.” While Greg is not currently working with an athletic team, he has in the past before moving to Ann Arbor, and would like to do so again in the future. “It’s nice to see these athletes coming in for adjustments now. It will pay off in dividends down the road for them because they have taken a proactive approach to taking care of their spine and nervous system,” Greg states.

Synergy Chiropractic The Pro-Adjuster has put Synergy Chiropractic on the cutting edge of chiropractic technology. The Pro-Adjuster is a piece of equipment that eliminates the twisting and turning normally associated with chiropractic treatment. According to Greg, it allows him to analyze the spine for areas that have reduced mobility and, using computer technology and oscillation, address those areas, which in turn allows the patient to be symptom free. “It’s actually technology used by NASA to measure the adhesiveness of the tiles to the bottom of the space shuttle. What this means for chiropractic is that reproducibility is very, very high. Two different chiropractors could perform the test on the same patient and, the results we get are almost identical, so we’d adjust the same thing. That’s fantastic!” he explains.

Greg has learned that building good relationships with the people in his practice, as well as within the community with other business people is of vital importance for growing his practice. “My dad has been an optometrist back home in Canada for almost 45 years, and I noticed people we didn’t really know were always saying hello to him as we would walk down the streets in town. But that was because he had built good relationships.” Earlier this year, our district chiropractic association was invited to get together with a group of local neurosurgeons. We each talked and shared the things that we were trying to accomplish within our respective practices. It was a great way of getting to know another group of health professionals and understand and become familiar with their goals. That is an important factor when it comes to referring a patient to another professional. Networking has been an invaluable tool, and according to Greg, has shaved nearly five years off the learning curve when it comes to developing his practice.
