In the area of child welfare, Lynn will fight to protect the fundamental rights of parents to raise their children. She understands the anger and frustration her clients feel when faced with the possible termination of parental rights. It is her goal to investigate both medical and environmental factors that give rise to accusations of child abuse and neglect and will work with her clients to identify needs that should be addressed in light of such accusations.
In addition, Lynn has also been very active on the Michigan Women’s Clemency Project, an ongoing work to garner leniency or mercy in defense of battered women who have fought back against their abusers. Also on the advisory board of the Coalition for a Useful Registry, Lynn, along with numerous other legal professionals, advocates for risk assessments and evaluations to be used before placing a sexual offender on the registry. Right now, anyone accused of a sexual offense must be placed on the registry. For example, if two 15 year olds get caught screwing around and are convicted of sexual misconduct, at the age of 18, they must be entered into the registry. That makes finding and registering a true predator next to impossible.
Outside of the legal arena, Lynn enjoys reading, golf (“I play at golf,” she says, “it is a wonderful walk outside, interrupted by this stupid little white ball”), cooking and spending time with her partner and family. “I often tell people that they don’t want to ever need me.” But, if you do need her, she will use her passion as an advocate of the law to obtain the best results for you.
